Children’s shops we dislike because they segregate toys or clothing by sex/gender, instead of simply separating everything into neutral categories. For a more detailed explanation of what the Department of WIN and Department of Fail are, please see here.

I’ve just been browsing the net looking for a present for my youngest son’s first birthday. Whatever he gets, it won’t be from Early Learning Centre, whose website actually has a “Refine selection by gender” function. I am currently lacking the patience to write an email of complaint to them, but will hopefully muster it up sometime soon…

Catalog of children’s toys called “HearthSong.” There were some cool things till I got to “Join the Club House” for boys. The copy starts, “No girls allowed!” and the “clubhouse” has “Girls Beware!” printed on it. (Or what?)
Then you come to the one for girls. It is not a clubhouse, it’s “Let’s Play House” and has “No Boys Allowed” printed on it.
Clubhouse for boys with a warning printed on it, vs. a house for girls disallowing boys. Different sections in the catalog for boys’ and girls’ toys.
