The Department Of WIN and Department Of FAIL are two new concepts that Ruth and I came up with.
Basically, we’re fed up of children’s clothing and toy shops that segregate by sex. We’d much prefer to see a clothing shop that separated clothes simply as ‘trousers’, ‘t-shirts’, ‘skirts’, ‘jumpers’ etc, than the current trend of separating everything into ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ clothing. Similarly with toy shops, many separate toys into ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ toys, which is equally irritating. We believe that toys and clothing are for every child, regardless of sex, and we wanted a way to warn other feminist parents off the bad ones and to congratulate the good ones.
You see where I’m going with this, right? Suggest a children’s shop for the Department of WIN if it fits the criteria (separating stuff by category, not sex) or for the Department of FAIL if it does not (separating stuff mainly by sex), and write a little review of the shop if you can. The reviews will be posted to the blog as part of the Department of WIN/FAIL concept, and the shops will be listed in the Department Of WIN and Department Of FAIL pages.
