Good post Anji.
It is certainly unbelievable the level of bile Katie Price has been receiving. It really exposes the sexist double standards, along with the virgin/whore dichotomy. Yes, I think Katie is supposed to stay at home doing her Queen Victoria impersonation (Andre aint dead but you get my drift), all celibate, homely and baking cakes for the kids and neighbours a la Stepford wife.

But it also says so much about the muck raking and narrow-minded ‘do as I say, not as I do, hypocrisy of the tabloid price.

Andre is portrayed as the wounded man, all alone (‘Moving On’ is the title of his telly programme)and left to his own devices, and he has had the ‘poor man’ applied while Katie is the ‘evil minx’…

I don’t care what Price gets up to, who she shags, snogs and runs off into the sunset with. But with the tabloids it is all about commodification and sex sells, along with sexist double-standards.

The amount of stick Katie Price is getting because she is daring to have a life after her marriage, is unbelieveable. What else is she supposed to do? Lock herself a way and pine for him? Haven’t the papers got anything better to write about? Wait a minute, it’s The Sun and the Daily Mail… Obviously not.

I agree with the papers bashing out insults at her no matter what either of them do. What’s really disgraceful are the papers hurting the children’s lives though, right?

I wish the people involved in all of this would bang their heads together, because the children are the responsibility of both parents, not just one. He should be spending his time with his kids, not with reporters talking about his kids. >__>

I’m not a fan of Price mainly because of the the SMA debacle (not because she said she didn’t want to breastfeed by the way, that’s just her opinion, I mean the advertising thing).

But this?

I mean, really?

I totally agree with you. I hate the hypocrisy surrounding “her” kids “his” kids and so on. This is mother blaming and shaming at its worst with a nice healthy dose of slut-shaming thrown in for good measure.

And totally spot on about “seeing her in bed with another man”. I mean, what’s he meant to do, hide beneath the covers?

Spot on post. Women are expected to be the endlessly-devoted and pure once they have children but men can do whatever the hell they want and any childrearing they do is some kind of special bonus that we’re supposed to be grateful for. Bollocks to that.

I feel sorry for Katie Price too. If nothing else, she doesn’t take much shit from anyone and does what she wants, regardless of what the tabloids and busybodies think. Good on her, I say!
