And Bertie is wearing a waistcoat as well! He’s gorgeous! Love the shoes and yes, it’s painful and depressing how in clothing we seem to be back in the 50s. My daughter is red haired and blue eyed and looks wonderful in earthy shades but it’s incredibly difficult to find nice clothes that aren’t pink or lilac. I dressed her in boy stuff until recently.

I try to balance gender neutral clothing with the ‘girly’ stuff my daughter loves (pink, purple, princess, fairies, etc) and people were SCANDALIZED that I put nightgowns and tights on my baby boy *eyeroll* despite the fact that they were more practical than sleepers or socks that he flung across the room within seconds of donning. She wears hand-me-downs from her brothers… and he STILL wears tights in the winter (the 14 year old boy now prefers to freeze LOL).

My PERSONAL beef with children’s clothes is this rash of ‘camouflage’ patterns. Ugh. They are children, they should NOT be wearing camo… especially the more ‘authentic-looking’ camo. I live in an area where we are fortunate to have a good amount of nature still with us. A child in a camo-printed jacket that gets lost in the park or woods here virtually vanishes. Bad. Plan.

I have completely different issues with the pink and baby blue ‘camouflage’ you see everywhere.

Why, oh why, are we accepting this as a viable choice for our children and infants??

Love it! I’ve had an insane time finding geder nuetral clothes for my daughter. It’s freaking insane the ways clothes for babies are made. I usually buy Robeez shoes here in the US. I’ve got a green pair with orange fish and a brown pair with green turtles. Very gender neutral pairs, though they do have the “girls in pink flowers, boys in blue baseballs” advertising.

May I nominate one of my favourite clothes manufacturers? Villervalla is a Swedish company, and while their clothes are not cheap, they DO take a beating. Unfortunately, the site is all in Swedish so you'll have to take my word for it that the categories are divided by garment type, but you can judge the pictures for yourself, and their front page reads: "Vår tanke är att kunna erbjuda dig som kund färgglada och prisvärda kläder av hög kvalité som passar både tjej och kille." Which, roughly, means: Our intention is to provide you as a customer with colourful and value-for-money clothes of high quality that suit both girls and boys. If they did adult sizes I'd be first in line. The lass has a handful of their clothes and they rock my world. I notice they now also have a selection of ecological cotton ("ekologiskt").
